Itta bena is one of the places which I feel has lots of historical importance. In fact Itta bena is a city in the Mississippi state and the county in which it is situated is the Leflore County.  You must also know that itta bena is a part of the Leflore County. If you do not know much about the Shiloh national park then I must tell you that there is really lot to see and do research as far as the civil war was concerned.

I really feel that I should tell you about the Shiloh war since itta bena are closely attached with it. I must tell you that this happen in the year 1862. General Grant decided to move to the Tennessee River and was waiting at its bank for the arrival of the Buell and they had the plan in their mind. They really decided to attack the confederates the next morning with the combined force. Their troops pass through the Itta Bena as well. Mississippi and the Tennessee were the two rivers between which grant was waiting for the Buell. Itta bena is really quiet near to this place. However general grant was proved to be wrong by the general of the confederates whose name was General Albert Sydney.

Albert Sydney realized the situation and I must tell you that he decided to attack the union army before Buell could join the army of General Grant. He attacked the army with 45000 soldiers and I must tell you that blood shed started but never looked to come to an end.

Actually the Sydney had thought that he would be able to win up till the afternoon. But this was not really the case. I must tell you that he was able to take an edge but never looked like winning. At the end of the day the confederates were really shocked when they heard that their general had died in the war. I must tell you that the confederates were really in no man land now. In the night Buell joined the Grant who was over the moon after hearing that Sydney was dead. On the very next morning they again attacked the confederates and they were quiet easily able to win the battle.

The amount of blood shed that took place was really too much. More than 24000 soldiers from both the sides lost their lives and I must say that this was really a set back for both of them.

The whole region either it is the itta bena or the Shiloh have really been the witness of this deadly war. I really feel that there was really no winner in this battle.
