Have You Ever Sneaked Into Shiloh National Military Park

I do feel that if you will ever sneak into the Shiloh national park then you will definitely enjoy some great historic facts. In fact way back on April 6th and 7th there was a civil war in US. The union army under the leadership of General Grant moved south with intention of war. It was on the bank of the river Tennessee when the General Grant decided to wait for the army under Buell to join him the next day.

However the general Albert Sydney understood the situation and hence he decided to attack the army of Grant before Buell could join him. With this intention at 6:00 a.m. in the morning of April 6th he decided to attack the Grants army before Buell could join him because he knew that if he will not do that then he would not be able to stop the Grant from fulfilling his intentions. This was really a surprise for General grant. Albert Sydney was backed up by 45000 soldiers where as the General Grant was backed up by only 25 thousand soldiers. In the beginning it looked as if Albert Sydney would be successful but unfortunately he was not able to give the finishing touch to the war. The soldiers under Grant fought bravely and never gave up. At the end of the day Albert Sydney could not force the Grants army to move to the swamp of owl creek and was dead. This was really a shock for the armies of Mississippi who was really shell shocked and can never recover from this huge loss.

The very next day General Grant invaded again with the fresh army since Buell joined him at night. He was easily able to defeat the army of Mississippi. Around 24000 soldiers were killed from both side and I must tell you that this was really a big loss for both the side. Hence you can really not say that who was the clear cut winner was. This was the costliest bloodshed in the American history up till that time.

When you will enter this park then you can still hear the cry of thousand of soldiers who lost their lives in this battle. You will also see the Shiloh Methodist church on behalf of which this battle was named. This was really a major bloodshed and the park explains all that happened. I do feel that when you will sneak though this park then you will definitely find all these things which happened in 1862.

I do feel that you should definitely visit this place for once since it has lots of historical importance and you will certainly enjoy the trip.

Shiloh National Military Park and Battlefield Area Hotel

Shiloh national Military Park is situated near the savannah and it is 185 kilometers away and in the south west direction of the Nashville. This is really the place which has seen of the heaviest bloodshed in the entire history of the US. This marks the place where one of the civil war was fought way back in 1862. This battle was fought between the army under General Grant and Albert Sydney. You can also call them the army of Tennessee combined with the army of Ohio and the army of Mississippi.

I must tell you that General Grant was resting on the bank of river Tennessee and waiting for Buell to join him very soon. Albert Sydney who was the general of army of Mississippi understood that this will be really devastating for them if they would join each other. Hence he decided to attack the army under Grant who were 25000 in number.

He really decided to compel them to move back and into the swamp of the owl creek. Hence with this intention in mind he attacked with his 45000 soldiers. This happened in the early morning of April 6th 1862at 6:00 o clock.

The plan of Albert Sydney really proved to work for few hours but he was ultimately defeated and more than 25 soldiers in all from both sides were killed. After few years the farmers who were cultivating in the area complained to the government that there pig were rooting up with the remains of the soldiers which fell down during the war. Hence the government really decided to open a national park in the area. They call it the Shiloh national park. This park is now very old and is about to finish its 100 years in 2016 and there is going to be a grand party in the coming year.

You will definitely now be interested in visiting this park and I do feel that you must be looking for some good hotel in this area where you can stay. You will definitely love the Marriott Jackson hotel which is situated quiet near to this national part. I must say that you will find all luxuries in this hotel. The staffs of the hotel are of high standard and I do feel that you will definitely love to enjoy the services being provided by them. The hotel rooms are very spacious and well equipped with all the modern amenities. You will find all kind of foods being served either it is Italian or Chinese or simple American food.

I do feel that you should at least visit the place for once and enjoy the services of this hotel in combination with the Shiloh national park.

Shiloh National Military Park

Shiloh national military park Tennessee is a place you should definitely visit if you want to know about the civil wars or American history buff. You can almost hear the battle cries of the soldiers who fought there. It is located in the southern part of the state, near savannah and it is 185 kilometers away and in the southwest direction of Nashville. This park commemorates one of the most major civil war and the first major blood bath. You will be shock to know that more than 23000 soldiers were killed in just two days of fighting.

The engagement took place when union troops under general Ulysses S. Grant pushed south in 1852 and were met by Confederate army based in nearby Corinth, Mississippi.  Grant was the winner but had the union reinforcement army would not have arrived at the end of the first day the result would have been completely different.

Shiloh national Military Park covers a large area of rolling, wooded hill and a convenient driving booth leads to important battle sites. You must try to get out and walk to the ground as much as you can. It is a very pretty area made more poignant for the bloodshed that took place there. Monument throughout the park and the different area shows the signs of the different regiments which fought at that location. There are also some preserved prehistoric Indian mounds and the Shiloh cemetery is really great.

Shiloh battlefield
The battle of Shiloh was the first major battle in the western theatre of the American Civil War. The two day battle took place on April 6 and April 7 1862. It included around 65000 soldiers under Grant and 44000 confederates under Albert Sydney who was killed in the battle. The battle resulted in about 24000 killed, missing or wounded. The battlefield is named after Shiloh Methodist church which is a small log church near Pittsburg landing, Tennessee.

The national military park was established on December 27th 1894. This was due to the request of local farmers who were tired of their pigs rooting up the remains of the soldier which fell during the battle and requested that the federal government should do something about it. This all happened for the railroad junction.

You will also find the Corinth battlefield, Shiloh cemetery, Shiloh Indian mound sites, all of them are really a treat to watch. I must say that you will definitely find these properties to be really great for one time visit. Either you talk about the farmers who requested for the park or you talk about Albert Sydney. Centennial Vision and Park Closures

On the 100th anniversary of the national park service the US invites the whole world to really find the meaning of the national parks and the vision behind it. It is really a great occasion. The US already made it clear on the 90th anniversary that the concept of national park is really very important and we all really need to think hard at this. The park officials have really taken it seriously and they want more investment from the stakeholders and members of these parks. They also want more members to join the community so that the concept can be spread throughout the world.

The hundred anniversaries are going to take place in 2016 and the national park service is trying to make the occasion look grand. You can easily understand what the importance of the national park is.
It does not only save the historical monuments but also the wild life. Hence everybody really thinks that more area should be taken under as the national park region.

When at the first time the concept of the national park system was introduced it was not thought that it would go such a long way. But when the world experienced the threat on the wild life as well as the historical monument the concept was really the hot topic among all the members.

A report was sent to Mr. Bush when he was the president on 31st may. The whole working staffs has joined hands to really make the 100th anniversary to be grand.

If you take the example of the Shiloh national park then only one thing comes in the mind and that the bloodiest fight which took place at this place. This national park was established in 1916 when it was transferred from the hands of the war association. I really feel that all the staffs should really be congratulated for the work which they have done in the past 93 years. And I do hope that they will continue the good work which they have done.

However as far as the living events are concerned I do feel that 2009 is also going to witness lots of events in the coming year. You should really watch out for the events which you are going to take place in this April.

I do feel that you will really enjoy the park events this year as well like the other years which the evidence suggest that everybody has enjoyed the proceedings. I do feel that the park is also very important because this place really marks such an important fight that everybody wants to know about it at present and many more will like to know in future as well.

Battle of Shiloh

The battle of Shiloh is also called the battle of Pittsburg landing. It has got its name from the meeting house which is 5 kilometers away from the Pittsburg landing on the Tennessee River. This battle was the costliest in the American history up till that time. This was fought between the union army of Tennessee who were helped by the army of Ohio and the army of Mississippi.

In April 1862 general Ulysses S. Grant with his army was encamped along the Tennessee River just north of the Mississippi border poised to strike a blow in the heartland of the south. Actually he was waiting for the Buell’s army to join him which was coming from the other side. General Johnston of the confederates has the different ideas. He with his troops decided to attack the Grants army before Buell could join him. The stage was set for the US bloodiest bloodshed.

On the morning of the April sixth general Johnston decided to attack the Grants army before the Buell could join him. The confederate army attacked at 6:00 a.m. in the morning of April 6th. The union arm was taken by surprise. Grant was surprised as well. Fierce battle was fought and the Union army fled backside towards the Tennessee River. Until the afternoon the confederates were looking quiet confident of their victory. But they were frustrated as well. This was because as the time passed by the resistance from Union army side went on increasing. Grant led the battle from the front. Suddenly the sun went down and the battle was suspended. The confederates were really frustrated and they were really shocked when they came to know that their general Johnston lost his life while leading the fight from the front. This was a major setback for them and they never thought of winning after that.

In the night the Buell’s army joined the Grant and as the sun came outside they attacked with the fresh 23000 soldiers. This was really a major setback for the confederates who were now without their general. The result was the same as you can guess. On the very second day of the fierce battle the confederates were defeated and the battle ended with the victory of the union army. Both sides lost more than 10000 soldiers and it was a set back for both of them. That is why it is said that none of them were clearly victorious.

This was really one of the bloodiest battles fought on the American soil. I do feel that as far as all the civil wars are considered this was one of the worst battles and really led to the loss of thousands of soldiers from both the side.

Shiloh is one of the places which have seen one of the bloodiest battles in the American history. It really marks the victory of the union army over the confederates. Welcome to Shiloh National Military Park

Way back in 1862 Shiloh was the place which saw one of the bloodiest war to take place in the entire history of America. It was the costliest war up till that time. It really is one of the worst days in the history of the US. On April 6 and 7th 1862 the war took place between the union army and the army of Mississippi. A severe battle was fought and more than 24000 soldiers were killed in the proceeding. And with this historical news I welcome you to Shiloh national Military Park.

The story is not so short. Actually the major general Grant had the plans to attack the south. He was waiting for the Buell’s army to join him at Shiloh near the bank of the river Tennessee. The general of army of Mississippi Albert Sydney got this news and he was really shocked. He played a mind game and decided to attack the Grants battalion before the Buell could join him with his battalion. For doing that he had no other alternative and hence he decided to attack the region where the Grant was waiting for Buell.

It was around 6:00 clock in the morning of April 6th when he decided to attack. The general Albert Johnston Sydney decided to attack and hence his army attacked in the morning and Grant with his army was taken by surprise. It was really a sudden attack. The number of soldiers in the Johnston battalion was 45000 and Grants army was less in number. Up till the afternoon the confederates were looking as a hot favorite to win the battle. They really were on all corners. However they were frustrated as well. They really find it really hard to finish the battle. Suddenly the sun went down and the battle was halted. They were really shocked when they come up with the news that their general Albert Sydney was dead. This really proved out to be shocking news for them and they never look winning after this incidence.

In the night time Buell with his troop joined the Grants army and they were now waiting for the sun to come out. In the morning the General Grant attacked with fresh 25000 soldiers and there were no body stopping them. By the end of the day everything was over for the army of Mississippi and they really find it an end.

You will definitely be shocked to note the amount of bloodshed which took place. More than ten thousand soldiers from both sides lost their lives. The total exact number was 24000. Hence you cannot really say that somebody was victorious.

The Shiloh national park is really the historical proof of that war and you will still find the remains at this park. You will also find the church on the name of which this war was named.

How to Plan your Visit to Shiloh National Military Park

Shiloh is one of the battlefields which has witnessed in past the bloodiest battle of US history. Shiloh is 110 miles from Memphis airport and 150 miles from Nashville airport. You can access the rental car facility from both the places. This way you can reach the Shiloh by plane.

You can also reach Shiloh by your private vehicle or car. I would like to explain the map.

You can easily get a plane from any part of the US to reach this city. And from Memphis you can always hire the car on rent. It will take you to the Shiloh military park where you want to go.

However if you have your own vehicle then you can always drive to Shiloh by following the route as stated above. You will definitely find no difficulty.

History of Shiloh National Military Park

You must know that Shiloh national military park was under the jurisdiction of the untied states war departments who work with the veteran to build and monument the park. It was only in 1833 that the Shiloh and the other battlefields were passed to the hands of the national parking service.

The history of the Shiloh national military park is straight forward and simple. The confederate forces under the general Albert Sydney launched a surprise attack over union army of the major general Grant. The confederates enjoyed some early breakthroughs but were ultimately defeated on the second day. The battle thus lasted for only two days with more than 24000 soldiers being killed.

On the first day of battle the confederates struck with the intention of driving the union defenders away from the Tennessee River and into the swamp of owl creek in the west. They hoped to defeat the Grant Army of the Tennessee before it could link up with the Buell’s army of the Ohio.

The confederate battle lines became confused during the fierce fighting and the Grants soldiers instead fell back in the direction of the Pittsburg landing in the northeast. Johnston was killed on the first day itself since the union army got the chance to stabilize.

This was the war between the army of Tennessee combined with the army of Ohio and army of Mississippi. Of all the 24000 soldiers being killed 13047 were from the Union army and the rest were from the army of Mississippi. The United States have seen many civil wars but this was definitely one of the biggest civil war. I do feel that the war became more famous since many soldiers were killed.

Early Morning Attack
At 6:00 a.m. on April 6th the Johnston army attacked the Union army. They were not really ready fro the attack. However the Grant telegraphed the Halleck on the night of April 5th about the situation. The Johnston army does not have a unified plan and hence the plan faded in just two days. Johnston was killed on the very first day of the war. The confederates were not able to handle the death of their general and they lost the battle on the very second day.

The two day battle of Shiloh was the costliest at that time in the entire US history. It marks the frustration of the Johnston to prevent the two Union army join hand in hand at Tennessee. In fact the confederates were badly defeated. I do feel that you will definitely find this battle to be one of the most famous battles related to the civil wars in the history of the United States.
